Our 32-bed Emergency Department has 44,000 visits annually. We serve both adult and pediatric patients. As a Level II Trauma Center and regional referral center serviced by LifeFlight of Maine we have a very high acuity level and roughly a quarter of our patients are admitted. We have trauma bays, critical care rooms, safe rooms, an ENT room and cardiac monitoring in most of our rooms.

We're a self-contained ED staffed with RNs, CNAs, Unit Secretaries, Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physicians, and highly trained Physician Assistants. We do point-of-care testing supported by our lab and do 30-40 EKGs per day. We have dedicated radiology staff and equipment 24/7. With a Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Educator for support and Charge Nurses for each shift, you'll receive the support you need. Orientation

Our orientation varies based on your experience. Six weeks for experienced ED nurses, twelve weeks for critical care nurses, and six months for RNs with little experience. Our educator meets with you, sets goals and ensures you have the experiences and skills you need. You will need many clinical competencies and we keep you with one preceptor on the shift you are hired for as much as possible. Our RNs are required to have advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certification. Over time, trauma nurse course certification (TNCC) is also required.
