In our 21-suite OR we provide every service with the exception of transplants; as a Level II Trauma Center, we're ready for anything to come through our doors. Our five team leaders serve as the main contact for surgeons and as a resource for nurses for the two to three services they manage. Our nurses find a home in their favorite two to three services, but maintain a wide range of skills so they can handle call. Our nurses primarily circulate, with the exception of cardiac nurses who scrub and circulate. Our affiliated CST school at Eastern Maine Community College provides us with highly-trained surgical techs. We enjoy respect and collaborative relationships with anesthesia and our surgeons.
We're a Davies Award-winner and enjoy exceptional technology throughout our OR, including two daVincis, computerized physician order entry and completely electronic documentation.
We are a Bariatric Center of Excellence and working toward total joint and spine Centers of Excellence as well. We do bloodless surgery, minimally invasive and robotic surgery as well as open heart surgery. We have a dedicated Trauma Room and see many types of traumas including multi-organ, multi-fracture, and head injuries. Since we cover two-thirds of Maine, we can see any type of trauma at any time. We're proud to be a national leader in organ procurement.
Between our Clinical Supervisors, Charge Nurses and Educators you will receive the support you need even after your orientation ends.
With a clinical ladder and many different roles within the OR, you'll have the opportunity to build the career you want. And, you have multiple schedules to choose from since we like to find a good match for your life.
